The current state of manufacturing will be explored during the first Maryland Manufacturing Conference, which will take place on Wednesday, January 17th at Garrett College’s Career Technology Training Center (CTTC) in Accident.

The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at noon, with lunch provided. In case of inclement weather, the snow date is January 25th.

Mike Kelleher, executive director of the Maryland Manufacturing Extension Partnership (Maryland-MEP), will be the keynote speaker. Maryland-MEP is a non-profit organization funded by industry and the State of Maryland with a mission focused on growing and strengthening Maryland manufacturers.

As part of the conference, Kelleher and his colleagues will examine long-standing myths and falsehoods about manufacturing and opportunities for the future. Kelleher will also share the latest industry trends and discuss technology, workforce, the environment, and opportunities for long-term growth.

Participants will also hear from industry experts on Lean Six Sigma Principles, economic overviews, and forecast and labor market data. Information will also be shared about Garrett College educational resources available to companies to train and upskill their staffs.

The conference is free to attend, but registration is required. To register, or for additional information, contact Kaitlyn Glotfelty at 301.387.3770 or email her at: kaitlyn.glotfely@garrettcollege.edu.
